Title: Grammar Goofs
Target Structure: Error Correction
Level: Advanced
Time: 30 minutes

Description:

How good are your students at advanced error correction?

This worksheet looks at grammar mistakes which are commonly made by native speakers. There are twenty-four different sentences. Can your class find the errors?

The lesson works well with a follow-up discussion. Some of the 'errors' in the sentences may well be controversial. Should we really care about split infinitive? How does English grammar compare to your students' mother tongue? Is the grammar strict in their language? Do people regularly break the rules?

This lesson is designed for advanced-level classes.

Title: Passive Pairs
Target Structure: Passive - Present and Past Simple
Level: Elementary - Pre-Intermediate
Time: 15 minutes

Description:

Students need lots of practice of basic passive forms! This game will help take the pressure off them and add an element of fun to the lesson.

This pairs game (also called concentration or pelmanism) has twelve different sentences made up of 24 cards. Students need to match the verb to the cue. They will then be able to make sentences such as:

Penguins are found in Antarctica

and

Citizen Kane was directed by Orson Welles

This worksheet is ideal for low-level students who are very new to the passive form.
