Description:

 

This worksheet is great for practising different ways of giving advice. There's a conversation, grammar practice and discussion. Target structures include: 'Should', 'It's a good idea to', 'How about' and more.

It's ideal for lower-intermediate students, but can easily be adjusted for other levels.

This worksheet has a conversation about New York. We also have a similar version for London.

     



 
Title: Communicating Changes

Description:

 

A splendid communication-gap exercise. The students each have a graph which they need to describe to their partner. Great for vocabulary such as 'increase' 'rise', and it can be spiced up with 'dramatically', 'steadily' and so forth.

Do you have any gamblers in your class? Maybe not, but there's bound to be someone who's bought a few lottery tickets or scratch cards over the years.

This worksheet takes the UK's National Lottery as the basis of a lesson which builds reading, vocabulary and speaking skills. There's a quick quiz at the beginning, followed by vocabulary building, reading, collocation practice and discussion.

     



 
Title: Moments in History

Description:

 

This worksheet covers both the Past Perfect (I had done), and the Past Continuous/Progressive (I was doing). The topic is famous moments in history - what were your students doing?

The handout has a quick historical quiz as a warm up, followed by vocabulary and collocation practice. There are three mini-readings, a grammar exercise, and discussion questions.

Although written for intermediate-level students, it would also work well for other levels.
