Title: Order! Order!
Target Structure: Reading and Discussion
Level: Advanced
Time: 60 minutes

Description: This worksheet is a great way to build your students' knowledge of some of the more common expressions used when talking about trials. You don't need to be a legal genius - it's the kind of vocabulary that's often heard in TV legal dramas.

There's a gap-fill reading, followed by comprehension questions, and vocabulary-building exercises.

The worksheet rounds off with discussion questions. Would your students like to be on a jury? Do they watch TV legal dramas?

This worksheet is written for advanced (and possibly upper-intermediate) level students.

Title: Transformations: Snakes and Ladders
Target Structure: Rewriting Game (First Certificate Style)
Level: Upper Intermediate / Advanced
Time: 20 minutes

Description: Can your students transform the sentences using the keyword? This is a fun way to improve specific language points.

* phrasal verbs
* make / let / force / allow
* modals (he can't be late / he must be delayed, etc.)
* conditionals (if / wish / if only, etc.)
* used to / -ing
* advanced comparisons (not nearly as, etc)
* 'difficult' verbs: advise, remember, ban, suppose, etc.
* despite / in spite of
* ...and much more!

It's great fun, and will really help your students in the final hurdle of getting these expressions right!

Title: What's in a name?
Target Structure: Reading, Vocabulary Building, Discussion
Level: Advanced
Time: 60-90 minutes

Description: This advanced-level worksheet is bound to get your students talking!

The topic is names. Why do some names lose their popularity? Which names are most popular in the UK and USA? Do we make assumptions about people based on their names?

This worksheet has a reading (with a gapfill exercise) followed by vocabulary / collocation building exercises.

The lesson rounds off with a series of discussion questions. Do your students like their names? How easy is it for someone to change his/her name? Find out with this worksheet!

Title: Fame and Fortune
Target Structure: Conversation and Discussion
Level: Advanced
Time: 60 minutes

Description: Have there been any celebrity scandals recently? If your students follow the ups and downs of actors and sports stars - or even if they can't stand celebrities - this is the ideal worksheet for your class!

There is a conversation, followed by practice exercises and lots of discussion questions. Your students will learn lots of new expressions and become able to talk more fluently about scandals in the news!

It's perfect for upper-intermediate and advanced classes.

Title: What I need is another vacation!
Target Structure: Emphasizing (Cleft Sentences)
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Time: 45 minutes

Description: Do your students need to sound more natural when they're speaking? This worksheet could be just the thing.

The topic is adding emphasis to speech. Native speakers often do this through 'cleft sentences' - structures such as 'the thing is...' and 'what you need is...'.

There's a gap-fill conversation and plenty of speaking practice to help your students master the new sentence patterns.

This worksheet is written for intermediate (and higher) level students.
